People and agents on the same board

Why we lead with a mixed team, not “AI employees”, and what that changes about how work moves between seats.

Every business now runs two workforces in two systems. People live in Slack, ClickUp and Asana. Agents live somewhere else entirely. The owner cannot answer “what is my team working on right now?” without checking both and stitching it together in their head.

Most tools in this category built the AI half and assumed the humans would stay where they were. That assumption is the whole problem. It means an agent can never hand a job to a person and wait, because the person is not in the system.

One operation, not two

So we built the other thing: managers, workers, tasks and responsibilities in a single org, where some seats are people and some are agents and the structure does not care which.

Delegating to a human and delegating to an agent are the same operation.

That sentence is the product. An agent given a job it cannot finish alone hands the human part to the person who reports to it, waits, and picks the work back up when they are done. Not an escalation. Not a fallback. The same operation, pointed at a different kind of seat.

Why not “AI employees”

Because it is someone else's phrase, and because it is the wrong shape. An AI employee is a thing you buy one of. A team is a thing you run. We sell the team, part of which happens to be AI.

It also sets the wrong expectation. “Employee” suggests you hand something over and stop looking. The seats here are visible on one board, ask before anything risky, and log everything they did, because that is what makes handing work over survivable.
